The Spring thaw has begun ...

NVCLL Family,

We know news from the league has been light lately ... but now the snow is melting, we have recovered from hosting the concert fundraiser, Majors has started practicing and we are starting to ramp up up levels for the spring.  Here are a few points that need to be stressed right now:

First order of business, is you have not yet registered, please do so ASAP.  We simply are being held back by the registrations trickling in.  We need to close Minors and Internationals registrations in the next couple weeks, so PLEASE register now!

Second, as an incentive and part of our focus on the levels other than Majors, the league, in conjunction with Ken Ulrich Baseball will be offering a FREE CLINIC to kids registered for Minors and Internationals.  This is the first of many clinics being offered over the next 6 weeks or so.  The first clinic will be Sunday February 21 at 5pm at the Nyack College Bubble.  To attend the clinic your child must be registered for the spring season AND you must register at the NVCLL website (click on the teal REGISTER NOW button on the right side of screen and register for 2016 Baseball Clinic 1).

Third, we are still looking for QUALIFIED managers for Minors and Internationals.  If interested, please email me at Chris.Bangs@nvcll.org.

Fourth, SAVE THE DATE of April 9.  That will be NVCLL Opening Day celebration, though Majors will be starting games a few weeks before that.

Finally, yes Majors has started practicing and no other levels are set yet.  This is in part due to the fact that Majors will start games 3 weeks before any other level and in part because while Majors players registered quickly, the other levels are dragging behind.  Simply put, we cannot plan a schedule, or managers, or even numbers of teams until we have registration finished.  There are still over 60 families expected to sign up for Internationals and Minors that have not done so yet, so if you know any of them please let them know to register, or you are one of them please register now.

Expect updates to come out very frequently from now until opening Day!

So you thought NVCLL ended after Majors ...

NVCLL Family,

There is a common misconception that NVCLL and Little League end after your kid's 12 year old season in Majors.  In fact, we keep going with the JUNIORS program.  Juniors is for kids 13 and 14 to keep playing baseball.  The NVCLL Juniors teams play against other leagues from Rockland County.  The games are set up so as to conflict with school teams as much as possible.  So even if your child aged-out of Majors last year, register them at NVCLL.org and keep the baseball going.  Plus, they get really nice uniforms ...

NVCLL Family,

Though there are still lots of kids who haven't signed up, we can't hold off the minors draft any longer.  At this point there are 3 openings left in Minors, anybody over that who wants to play will be wait-listed, so if you haven't signed up, please do so NOW otherwise you will get squeezed out.

We are anticipating one more evalution, most likely Friday but dependent upon with weather.  Kids who want to play, but do not attend evaluations will not be allowed to be drafted, and instead will be placed on a team.

NVCLL Family,

***After the email earlier tonight, I was advised that a substantial number of players could not make May 14, due to First Communion at Saint Paul's, therefore we are moving NVCLL DAY up by one week to May 7 ***

Due to the forecast of cold, wind, rain and snow for Saturday the board deliberated most of the day and eventually decided to put off Opening Day.  I have been told every other Little League in Rockland that had a ceremony this Saturday already postponed theirs, we were the last one holding out hope.

Please know this is not a decision made lightly, but in order to provide the best possible experience for all of the kids of NVCLL (and parents too) we decided to not have everybody standing around on a cold blustery morning.

The date to move it to was also debated and we settled on May 7 for NVCLL DAY (no need to call it opening day at that point).  By setting the date several weeks out we can ensure that we can still have a parade (since we have to file for a new permit) and on May 7 it will tie in directly with Rookie/Tee Ball Picture Day.

So where we are right now is:

1.  This Saturday just has 3 Majors games scheduled (times remain the same).  No parade/No ceremony/No Pictures!!!  Games still could be canceled due to weather/field conditions, but as of now they are on!

2.  Majors/Minors/Internationals pictures are moved to NEXT SATURDAY (April 16).

3.  May 7 will be NVCLL DAY  and Rookies & Tee Ball pictures.

4.  We will confirm when managers can pick up uniforms at Liberty.
